Travelling Abroad

Those wishing to take hire equipment out of the UK must inform Hammerhead TV Ltd well in advance of the hire commencing. Hammerhead TV Ltd cannot be held liable should equipment be held or seized at any International border control. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that Carnets or Importation licences are arranged beforehand.

Hammerhead can advise clients and provide any equipment information required prior to travelling. Should you require Hammerhead TV Ltd to arrange carnets or Importation licences on their behalf please contact the relevant Hammerhead office for further details. Clients may be subject to an additional fee for this service.

ATA Carnet Information

All countries have procedures allowing for the temporary importation of goods across their borders. Such importation is generally valid for up to one year.

Importers may choose from three options when considering a temporary importation: ATA Carnet, Temporary Importation under Bond (TIB) and Duty Drawback.

The ATA Carnet was created by international convention thirty years ago. It is an international customs document used worldwide to facilitate temporary importations into member countries.

  • May be used for unlimited exits from and entries into the U.K.
  • Are valid for one year.
  • Are accepted in over 55 countries and territories.
  • Eliminate payment of value-added taxes (VAT) and duties.
  • Eliminate the posting of security normally required at the time of importation.
  • Simplify customs procedures.
  • Allow a temporary exporter to use a single document for all customs transactions.
  • Are a method of making import arrangements in advance
  • Allow you to budget at a predetermined cost.
  • Eliminate the need to register goods (and create separate paperwork) with U.K. Customs at the time of departure.
  • Smooth re-entry to the UK
  • Allow you to pre-pay in UK Pounds Sterling and reduce the need to carry foreign currency for duties, deposits and taxes when travelling.
  • Allow you to complete all customs paperwork in English, once.
  • Minimize uncertainty and surprises at customs.
